Suriname reports fines and prison in opium and ganja possession cases

The colonial government reported fourteen convictions for possessing opium or ganja: twelve fines of ten to five hundred guilders and two six-month prison terms. It reported no detected cannabis-cultivation offences that year. The figures combine the two drugs and do not give a cannabis-only sentencing rate.[1]
