The Palace holds back on restoring the death penalty for drug trafficking

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla backed restoring capital punishment for major drug traffickers after a 521 kg shabu seizure in Laos was linked to the Philippines. The Palace said President Marcos had no position and that the proposal needed study, citing the country's international relations and its advocacy against the death penalty in ASEAN. The proposal had not become law, and Republic Act 9346's ban remained in force.[1][2]
