After administrative penalties for possession were abolished and suspended sentences for serious crimes, which include distributing small amounts, were restricted, the Liberal MP A. Armonaitė tabled amendments to grade the penalties and to decriminalise possession and sharing among friends, with warnings and administrative fines in their place. The health minister supported the approach; R. Karbauskis, chairman of the Farmers and Greens Union, called for zero tolerance. A judge, A. Cininas, said the laws were destroying people's lives.[1]
