Laos adopts prison terms for cannabis trading in its revised penal law

People trading one to ten kilograms of dried cannabis faced three to seven years in prison under the penal-law revision adopted by parliament. Regular or organised trading, or more than ten kilograms, carried five to ten years; people addicted to smoking cannabis were directed to treatment.[1] The revision preceded the 2007 narcotics law and the later amendment adding separate THC and hashish penalty bands.[1][2]
