Death penalty 🇮🇶 Iraq

Iraq adds severe drug penalties for people serving its armed forces

Iraq added a special penalty for members of its armed forces and people employed by or working with or for them: life imprisonment or at least ten years, plus a fine of 1,000–2,000 dinars. Courts could impose death if the offence occurred while confronting the enemy. The amendment to the drug law followed the 1968 penalty increases; its stated purpose was to deter drug smuggling and use among people connected to the armed forces.[1]
