Debate 🇬🇭 Ghana

Ghana's government brings a bill to treat drug use as a health matter

A Narcotics Control Commission Bill, first proposed by the government in 2014, was put forward to replace the 1990 law. It called for decriminalising drug use, alternatives to prison, proportionate sentences and a harm reduction strategy, and encouraged reviewing the classification of substances such as cannabis. It became law in 2020.[1]
