West Germany's highest criminal court defines a serious cannabis quantity by THC content

In 3 StR 183/84, the Federal Court of Justice fixed the threshold for a non-small quantity of cannabis at 7.5 grams of THC for the aggravated import offence and the corresponding serious-case sentencing rule. The threshold concerned active THC rather than the weight of the cannabis product. The Court upheld the quantity classification in a hashish-import case but set aside the sentence for a separate sentencing error and ordered a new sentencing hearing. The threshold differentiated criminal penalties; it was not a lawful personal-possession allowance.[1]
