Bahrain raises the maximum prison term for drug supply to ten years

Bahrain’s replacement drug decree raised the maximum prison sentence for supply from three years to ten, with a fine up to 10,000 dinars available instead or alongside imprisonment.[1][2] Personal possession carried up to three years, a fine up to 3,000 dinars, or both, with hospital treatment available instead.[1] The decree expressly listed cannabis and resin, replaced the 1959 ordinance and took effect on publication on 8 March 1973.[1][3]
