NSW starts a statewide cannabis cautioning trial

New South Wales began a twelve-month statewide trial allowing police to issue formal cautions instead of charges for eligible adult minor cannabis offenders. The original scheme covered up to 15 g of dried cannabis and allowed no more than two cautions, with eligibility conditions and police discretion. It changed enforcement procedures rather than legalising possession.[1]
