context › planting › textGrowing any Cannabis sativa plant is an offence, and the law expressly dispenses with proof of flowering or fruiting tops.[@druglaw] A young plant or rooted cutting therefore falls under the cultivation prohibition.[@druglaw] The definition of cannabis concerns flowering or fruiting tops and separately covers resin; the reviewed text does not settle standalone seed trade, so that exclusion does not give permission to plant seeds.[@druglaw]

context › driving › textThe [2022 road-safety law](/history/northern-cyprus-road-drug-testing-law-2022/) sets the drug threshold at zero units in a biological sample for every driver.[@road22] Police can require saliva screening on reasonable suspicion or after a traffic accident, with biological samples analysed at the state laboratory.[@road22] A conviction can bring up to two years in prison, a fine of up to five monthly gross minimum wages at the time of the offence, or both; the court can also disqualify the driver.[@road22]

context › black market › textCannabis remains an illicit market under the possession, supply and cultivation prohibitions.[@druglaw] In an [August 2026 Famagusta operation](/history/northern-cyprus-famagusta-seizure-2026/), police reported 1.2 kg of suspected cannabis and a precision scale, arresting two men.[@seizure26] The case was still under investigation when announced; the seizure is a local enforcement example, with no national market-size estimate in that report.[@seizure26]

+## Northern Cyprus
+
+Downloaded the official consolidated 1972 law and 2022 road-safety law after web retrieval
+failed. The current fifteen-year/TRY50 alternative remains; the original nominal fine appears
+as fifty million pre-redenomination lire. The 1977 flowering-proof rule is dated from the
+consolidation’s explicit amendment annotation, not from an inferred original tariff. The
+1982/1989/1991 penalty annotations are leads: no unsupported historical range is assigned.
+Road law expressly sets zero units for drugs in biological samples, separate from alcohol.
+Its event uses the 27 June adoption date because gazette publication was not recovered.
+The 1956 original expressly defers commencement to a notice; its existing 6 August date is
+therefore explained as enactment in the article. The local 2026 seizure remains suspected
+material and an ongoing case. No national cannabis arrest total was found; no local case is
+presented as one. Existing six scores retained. Four Turkish terms and the earlier survey
+and supervised-treatment articles remain linked in the profile.
+
+Initial validation: profile audit 0/0. Review builds stopped on another contributor’s unquoted
+colon in a Cabo Verde history source, then in a Cabo Verde article source. Those files were
+left alone. Final page rendering will be retried after their work settles.
