+
+Global New Light of Myanmar, 7 January 2026, English text of NDSC Law 17/2025, enacted 31 December 2025. The published text has no separate commencement clause. Section 2(i) defines life imprisonment as incarceration until death. Section 9(g) orders three months in a rehabilitation centre when a user does not enter the required bond or breaches its conditions. Section 15 orders unpaid manual work of 45 to 90 hours a week when a user sent under section 9(g) flagrantly breaks the centre's rules. Sections 19 and 20 replace "life imprisonment without limit" with "life imprisonment". Section 26(g) deems more than 100 grams of marijuana, marijuana extract, or both to be possession for sale. https://cdn.digitalagencybangkok.com/file/client-cdn/gnlm/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/7_Jan_26_gnlm.pdf

+The presidency confirmation page returned an error and was not read. No Burmese text of the amendment was opened. The fifteen-year floor and the death alternative are the wording already in the profile; the amendment substitutes the life-imprisonment phrase and leaves the rest of those sections in place. Consumption stays at 2 because use itself still carries no prison term. The three-month order is for a missed or broken bond.

+Act XIX of 2025, section 27, substitutes Criminal Code § 461. A small quantity of THC is 6 grams of total THC, the pure form and the acid form together. A small quantity of cannabis plants is at most five plants. Section 16 substitutes § 180: a person is not punished for a small quantity grown, made, acquired or held for their own use, or for consuming a drug, when they admit the act, complete six months of treatment or a prevention programme, and by indictment make it possible to identify the seller. That route is closed after it has been used twice. https://njt.jog.gov.hu/jogszabaly/2025-19-00-00.0

+The Official Gazette PDF and the parliament consolidation were not opened. The two-year small-quantity prison term in the possession paragraph was already in the profile and was not re-read from § 178.

Section 4(a)(ii): more than 100 grams carries a fine of not less than 50 million shillings or three times the market value, whichever is greater, or fifty years, or both. https://new.kenyalaw.org/akn/ke/act/1994/4/eng@2022-12-31
