Aden’s 1942 drug ordinance prohibited importing and selling cannabis, according to the colony’s later report to the UN.[1] The report distinguished that ban from licensed trade in other drugs and the state-controlled supply of opium to registered users.[1] In its account for 1952, the colonial government recorded eight cannabis cases ending in fines and confiscation.[1]
