Debate 🇮🇪 Ireland

An Irish working party advises against prison for small amounts

The Working Party on Drug Abuse, set up by the government in 1968, recommended reviewing the legal status of cannabis and not imprisoning people for possessing a small amount for their own use. The Misuse of Drugs Act of 1977 put cannabis in a category of its own, with fines for the first two offences.[1]
