Drug crimes recorded by the police more than doubled in the first nine months of 2023, a rise blamed on synthetic drugs sold through Telegram channels advertised on the walls of Yerevan. The interior minister, Vahe Ghazarian, said that tougher sanctions would bring the figures down and called for re-criminalising drug addiction. A deputy of the governing party proposed yearly drug tests for all teenagers.[1]
